Announcement

The human genome project brought a new approach to biology that is characterized by comprehensive data acquisition, integration of informatics with biology, and the motivation to understand living organisms as molecular systems. The information and knowledge obtained from such genome-based research will decidedly affect the future development of life sciences and biotechnologies including medicine, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.

The International Workshop on Advanced Genomics thus has been planned to provide people from various communities with the opportunity to meet regularly, exchanging and sharing their views and new ideas. The 1st-5th workshops held during 1998 - 2003 were subtitled, respectively: "Expression Profiling and Related Technologies," "Genomics and Drug Discovery," "SNPs: Registration Information and Related Technologies," "From Genomics to Proteomics," and "From Molecules to Systems."The 6th workshop was co-organized with the HUGO annual meeting in 2005. They were a series of significant achievements in which hundreds of academic and industrial attendees from many countries participated, and the quality of lectures, posters, and exhibitions were highly praised.

The seventh meeting, planned to be held on Nov. 27th and 28th, 2007, will cover rapidly expanding new frontiers of genomics including "Application of New Sequencing Technology," "Metagenomics," "The Role of Non-coding RNA," "Bioinformatics," "Personalized Medicine / Pharmacogenomics," and "Chemogenomics." The organizing committee wishes to maintain the spirit of the preceding workshops by incorporating presentations on emerging technologies and encouraging related discussions.

The meeting is currently planned to have plenary lectures, concurrent symposia, poster sessions and commercial exhibitions. We are expecting as many as 500 attendants, and you are cordially invited to attend this exciting workshop.
